What does receiving Spirit of State mean to you?
Emma Schultz: I am truly honored to receive the Spirit of the State. It is a great honor to be recognized for this award in recognition of excelling in all areas of the university and being able to create a welcoming environment for all of those around you. Being a student at Mississippi State has given me numerous opportunities to excel in various fields both inside and outside of the classroom. And for that, I am thankful.
What has been your most rewarding experience at MSU?
Emma Schultz: The most rewarding experience that I've had while here at Mississippi State has been serving in numerous positions on the Graduate Student Association for the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture. I've served as the secretary, president and as a board member for my past few years here. And it has truly been an honor to be a voice for the graduate students within the department. serve as a welcoming hand when new students and faculty and to the department and to foster a sense of community within our graduate student body.
How can you continue to embody the Spirit of State?
Emma Schultz: Continuing in the Spirit of the State to me means continuing to embrace all that Mississippi State represents, welcoming those new to the department with open arms, celebrating those that are moving on to newer and bigger things and embracing all that we have to enjoy here at Mississippi State; cheering on the Bulldogs in their athletic competitions and being an active member of the graduate student body here on campus.
