Speaker: Mary S.

What motivated you to go back to high school and attend college at this time in your life, and what did you study?

Mary S.: What motivated me to go back to high school and attend college when I did was the fact that I am a stay-at-home-mother and really had nothing else I could do and it was something to keep me active without going crazy. And I wanted to do it to show my children. That even at my age, anybody can get an education.

What did you like the most about NEO and the Pathway to Degree Program?

Mary S.: What I like most about NEO and the Pathway to Degree Program was the fact that I had people calling and texting just making sure that I was staying on track. I understood everything and what needed to be done. If there was ever any questions, all I had to do was ask. The professors was extremely helpful.

Tell us about one person who made a difference in your experience at NEO.

Mary S.: The one person on my support team who made a difference in my experience would be Rosie. She was my advisor, and she was always willing to help and do whatever she could to make sure I was able to get my degree.

How has your life/mindset changed since graduating from NEO?

Mary S.: Since I went for a psychology degree with NEO, my life and mindset has changed since graduating because I know that pretty much now anybody can get a degree. It doesn't matter your age, your economic status, your sex. If you want it, you can get it. All you got to do is put in the effort.

What are you doing now that you've graduated from NEO, and how did your time at the college help you get here?

Mary S.: What I'm doing now is debating on whether to go on and go to a four-year college to finish my psychology degree and become a bachelor in psychology or just taking a break, spending time with family, enjoying life, because that's what matters.
