Speakers: Jessica Liria, Outreach Specialist
How long have you been at David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health, and how did you find your way to your current role?
Jessica Liria: Hello, I'm Jessica Liria and I am an outreach specialist with David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health. I have been with DLC since March of 2013. So right over nine years. I started as a behavioral health technician on our crisis stabilization units and that was one of the best experiences so far of being here because it really laid the foundation for being able to advance into other areas of my career and really just help me find the niche that I liked and what I really felt passionate about.
Could you share a few details about the favorite part of your position and the team at DLC?
Jessica Liria: In the outreach position, one of my favorite things is being able to work with the number of community partners that we have here in Collier County. Our area is really great for combining our resources and collaborating together to do what's best for the people here in our county. And being able to work alongside them, bring initiatives to life as well as continue to educate and keep those conversations around mental health going. Are one of those things that I'm passionate about and something that I really find to be important for our area.
What stands out to you about the culture at David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health?
Jessica Liria: Something that really stands out to me about the culture here at DLC is teamwork. I've worked in a variety of different teams: crisis unit, prevention and community based, as well as an administration. And I would say that as a group, a collective group, we all do what we can to work together to build trust, build rapport, and really just be there to collaborate and problem solve together.
Please give an example of how you see DLC's mission of providing life-saving and life-changing care in action?
Jessica Liria: And a good example of how I bring this mission to the forefront is always having those conversations around mental health.
Jessica Liria: And I see that in what I do every day, and just continuing to bring that education, that awareness, breaking that stigma left and right, and just having people understand how to ask for help and really when is it time to ask for help?
What makes David Lawrence Center a great place to work?
Jessica Liria: There is a number of things that are really important when I think about my career and my employer and a lot of that has to do with the benefits that are provided. The flexibility, The paid time off the 401K. Those are all things that really make DLC stand out as a great organization to work for.
What is the best part of working at David Lawrence Centers?
Jessica Liria: I've grown so much as a person working here. I've really worked on my own mental health and been able to really prioritize that and myself.
Jessica Liria: I've had a number of opportunities like being certified instructors for a number of programs. Those are all things that wouldn't have happened if I didn't work here and I'm really grateful that I've had this opportunity.
