Speaker: Reid

How long have you been at David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health, and how did you find your way to your current role?

Reid: I have been a DLC for just a little over three years and one of the great things that brought me to the agency was the fact that there were so many opportunities within the agency. I have had a role of clinical supervisor as well as therapist, both part time and full time. So I've really been able to explore, based on what my needs were, both personally and professionally, a variety of different roles and parts to play throughout my time here.

What is your favorite part of your position and the team at DLC?

Reid: My favorite part about being a therapist here at DLC is the variety of clients I've been able to work with. They very much take into consideration what I prefer in terms of a specialty to work with as well, and the team as a whole. The clinical team. As a therapist, being able to work with, not only other therapists, but being able to touch base with a medication provider and case management and all those things as an integral part of client care is huge. So I find that to be pretty optimal.

What stands out to you about the culture at David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health?

Reid: What I like most about the culture here at D. L. C. Is there's truly no sense of hierarchy. We are, as cliche as it kind of sounds, truly kind of like a family here. You hear that when you first come in and you think, "okay, that's great. We'll see if that's true or not," but it really does hold true that executive management all the way down. We're all in it together, we work together, we have meetings together, we send emails back and forth to each other without barriers or buffers in between. and there's truly a sense of unity. That's pretty great.

How do you see DLC's mission of providing life-saving and life-changing care in action?

Reid: One of the unique ways I see DLC's mission in action is helping a client complete their treatment, discharging them after successfully going through outpatient therapy. I often will work with a client who maybe started at another level of care or multitude, levels of care over several months, and those last sessions can be very emotional for everybody involved. And being able to have that opportunity is something that is unique to DLC.

What makes DLC a great place to work?

Reid: What makes DLC a great place to work, in my opinion, is the fact that we are such a diverse group of individuals and we are truly embraced as the individuals that we are. We get to bring our own talents and uniqueness to our work and that's shown in the ability to express opinions and ideas for how to make things better all the time.
