Mobile users seem happy with 4G speeds - why should the world move to 5G?

Why 5G?: So indeed in general, people like you and me are happy with the 4G speeds. But this was the same case when moving from 3G to 4G. Nobody understood why we needed 4G, but once we were all enjoying the faster data speeds, we didn't want to go back to 3G, right? And this is because we are all using more and more data hungry apps with requirements for better latency, high reliability, bigger bandwidth. And this is also necessary for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) applications. But the need for 5G is more fueled by specific IoT use cases, connected things like self driving vehicles, mission critical services, remote health monitoring, video surveillance, requiring a huge amount of bandwidth and also use cases where millions of things need to connect to one radio station in a particular location. All of this is not possible with 4G technology and another advantage of 5G is network slicing. So this gives the possibility to a mobile network to dedicate parts of its capacity to specific customers or use cases. So to summarize 5G is largely driven by IoT private network use cases. So mobile operators who want to take advantage of this growing opportunity simply need to support 5G
