What would you say to someone who is thinking about applying to an ASID awards program?
Lily Robinson: So I did not. Um, nominate myself. Someone nominated me. But in retrospect, I don't know why I never considered myself a viable candidate for this award. So my advice to those who are um thinking about applying to an ASID awards program is do it because it didn't even occur to me. Um, I had to wait until someone else nominated me. And also, um, I would encourage people to nominate their colleagues because sometimes people like myself who don't think to nominate themselves or apply themselves, they need a little bit more encouragement, and I think what would be a greater uh honor than um. For someone, uh. To have nominated them, you know, to recognize a friend or someone you really think in this organization deserves. Accolades for their. Um, For the way they. Light the path for others, uh, which is what I think of when I think of a luminary. So a luminary of distinction should be someone that you feel not only lights the path for themselves, but lights the path for others and. Uh, we all have people in our life who have served as a mentor, and I think you should. Acknowledge them by nominating them. And of course, if your own career path has led you to be in the position where you can apply, why wouldn't you?
