Please tell us who you are and what you do.
Tanya Halliday: Hi, my name is Tanya. I'm in my mid-50s and at a point in life where I'm wanting my money to work better for me. I have 3 amazing adult children and 3 beautiful grandchildren. I live and work in a remote Aboriginal community in WA as a Tenancy Support Manager and I'm very lucky, I love what I do.
Before working with Access Wealth, how would you describe your overall financial situation at the time?
Tanya Halliday: My overall financial situation prior to Access, I would say wasn't bleak. I had a house that was accumulating a bit of equity, I had a job. However, in terms of retirement, which I'd only really started thinking about considering it's only 10 years away, didn't look too comfortable. I was sort of hoping that retirement would, everything would sort of just fall into place without me having to do anything. However, I was very wrong. I had all this equity in my home, I didn't know what to do with it. I wanted my money to start working better for me. I didn't have a lot of debt. I had a good job and I was at a point in my life where I wanted to retire comfortably. I'd worked hard all my life and I wanted, yeah, I really wanted to retire comfortably and enjoy it.
At that stage, what challenges were getting in the way of you actually making financial progress?
Tanya Halliday: The challenges that were getting in the way of me actually moving financially ahead, was the fact that I didn't know where to start, I didn't know what to do. There's so much information out there and, yeah, I'm just not an expert in that area. I wanted my money to work better for me, where do I start? What do I do?
Before speaking with Access Wealth, what concerns or doubts did you have about property investing?
Tanya Halliday: My concerns around property investing were I didn't think it was possible for me. Yeah, I had a bit of equity in my home, but I didn't think that I'd be able to purchase any with that. I didn't think financially also I was in a position to be able to do it. I had heard that maybe I was but I didn't know where to start or even what to do, where to commence, even options in terms of investing. I wasn't in a position to be able to do that myself.
Did you have any hesitations about working with Access Wealth before starting?
Tanya Halliday: I did have a few concerns about working with Access, as I was previously linked in with another company that did a similar thing and I was with them for about 6 months and I just didn't really like the experience, I didn't feel supported. So coming over to Access, I was very hesitant in letting go of that. I also had just sold my house and I had quite a substantial amount of money which I was struggling to let go of.
If anything was holding you back at first, what made you decide to move forward with Access Wealth?
Tanya Halliday: I moved forward with Access Wealth because I really loved what they were offering. I really felt supported and I really wanted someone that was going to do everything for me because it wasn't my expertise. So they ticked all of those boxes.
What was your experience like working with your strategist and the team throughout the property journey?
Tanya Halliday: The team at Access Wealth have been amazing. They've been so supportive. I have challenged them and asked some pretty hard questions as it's my financial future that we're talking about here, but they have been so supportive. I really commend them. John has been amazing. I did challenge him quite a few times and he came through with flying colours. So yeah, great team, great support.
Since working with Access Wealth, what progress have you seen?
Tanya Halliday: Since working with Access Wealth, I have purchased 3 properties and my future, my financial future, my retirement looks promising.
How would you describe your confidence now compared to before you started working with Access Wealth?
Tanya Halliday: Prior to Access Wealth, my financial future, my retirement didn't look too promising. However, now I feel quite confident that I am going to be able to retire quite comfortably and live quite a fulfilling life.
