Tell us more about the relationship between Google and Trifacta.

Adam Wilson: Google and Trifacta have actually been working together for the past four years. This is the first time in the history of Google Cloud that they have taken a third party service to market as part of their brand: Google Cloud Dataprep. We're super excited about the adoption that we've seen so far. Over 10,000 companies have made use of Google Cloud Dataprep and over 100,000 data engineers, data analysts, and data scientists rely on Google Cloud Dataprep to handle their complex cleansing, transformation, and pipelining of data in GCP.

What is Google Cloud Dataprep?

Adam Wilson: Dataprep by Trifacta is an intelligent data service for visually exploring, cleaning, and preparing structured and unstructured data for analysis, reporting, and machine learning. Because Dataprep is serverless and works at any scale. there's no infrastructure to deploy or manage. Your next ideal transformation is automatically suggested and predicted with each UI input. So you don't have to write any code. That being said if you'd like to write code, we also support that too. So you get the benefit of a no-code/ low-code environment to handle most ETL or ELT tasks whether you're compiling down to Google Dataflow or doing the work inside of Google BigQuery.

How are Trifacta and Google Cloud working together around solution patterns?

Adam Wilson: There's a number of common data problems that face most organizations globally and it's been our pleasure to work very closely with Google to be part of their solution templates or patterns that they're putting out to help accelerate time to value for customers. So whether you're working with survey data and want to pick up a solution pattern or template that helps expedite the process of cleaning up that information so that you can drive deeper insights into what's going on with your customers and partners or whether you're in the middle of a pricing optimization project and you need to stitch together disparate data in order to inform your decision making, Trifacta plays a central role in helping to prepare that data and helping to make sure that it's available for any downstream analysis that you may be doing with other Google technologies like AutoML, BigQuery, Data Studio, Looker, or other third party technologies

What's something new about Google Cloud Dataprep that users would love to hear?

Adam Wilson: Earlier this year, Trifacta introduced full pushdown or ELT functionality for BigQuery with Google Cloud Dataprep. So now Google Cloud Dataprep accelerates data engineering tasks by over 20X running inside of BigQuery. BigQuery can now serve as the engine for all data transformation and cleansing. Users can leverage the power of the cloud data warehouse to do all of their self service work through SQL based ELT. So now you have the best of both worlds where you can use Spark on a data lake or you can use SQL in a cloud data warehouse and you can have the luxury of changing your mind.
