Speaker: Lionel Poole, Account Executive
Let's meet LP!
Lionel Poole: Hi everyone. I'm Lionel but feel free to call me LP I am an Account Executive over here at Wonolo and have been on the team for just over a year now. I'm currently located in Southern California.
What events in your life have brought you to your current role today?
Lionel Poole: I've always been really drawn to sales. Even since I was little, I kind of consider myself a matchmaker of some sorts, but as far as being an Account Executive here at Wonolo, the first thing I will give a special shoutout to is having a great support system and mentorship. I've always been around people that have challenged me to get outside of my comfort zone and try for the things that I want. You pair that up with a great mentality of trusting the process and believing in the journey. And it's slated me here to a place where I really feel comfortable and I'm really enjoying what I'm doing as far as working in HR Tech startups. So special shout-out to my collective crew and I wouldn't be here without you. Thank you.
What was the first thing that caught your eye about Wonolo? What made you decide to join?
Lionel Poole: The first thing that caught my eye about Wonolo was the adventures of #FlatYong. Yong is our CEO and someone happened to make a life-sized, cardboard cutout of him and ship him across the United States to all remote coworkers. I was really intrigued about his journeys. I think one week I saw him in New York. I saw him in Seattle. I saw him in Arizona. I was like man this guy is really on the go! But after that, I decided to do all my Twitter and Google searches about Wonolo and once I really understood the mission, some of the people that were working there and really their company goals were really aligned and checkmarked all my boxes. And I thought there's no other way to find out that this company is going to be a fit rather than to just go full fledged and see if it works. So I'm really happy that everything aligned and that I'm still here.
What is one of your favorite memories at Wonolo?
Lionel Poole: I'm going to say my favorite memory at Wonolo so far has been Camp Wonolo. For those of you who actually know me, LP and camping do not go together in the same sentence. There's definitely a lot of hesitation about being in the woods, right? But the Wonolo team was so transparent and so accommodable in helping me, you know, get outside of my comfort zone. And the experience was great. To add icing on the cake was being able to meet all my remote coworkers who have been chatting with via slack and zoom for the past couple of months. I will say there was a lot of people that were much taller and the smiles were just as bright. So shoutout to my special coworkers. So I'm really glad I was able to meet and connect with all of you. And I look forward to our next remote off-site. Woohoo!
Please finish this sentence: if you really knew me, you would know that ______ .
Lionel Poole: If you really knew me, you would know that I really care about people and most of the time throughout the day, you could probably catch me with a big smile on my face. Even if we have to navigate tough conversations or have bad news, I'm usually sitting there smiling and I really enjoy that Wonolo has allowed me to bring my positivity and optimism to work every single day.
